Better Cotton Initiative (BCI)
Since January 2017, Liberty Fabrics has been a member of the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI), a global movement promoting improved cotton farming practices. Through this initiative, all cotton and cotton-blend bases are sourced responsibly. Additionally, Liberty Fabrics strictly prohibits the use of cotton sourced from Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.
Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS)
Liberty Fabrics has secured the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certification, allowing select fabric bases to be retailed as "Organic" (containing a minimum of 95% certified organic fibres). To achieve this, Liberty Fabrics ensures compliance with independently certified environmental, chemical, and social standards across its organic fabric supply chain. While these fabrics are not yet available for purchase, they will be in the near future.
Global Recycled Standard (GRS)
To support the use of recycled materials, Liberty Fabrics adheres to the Global Recycled Standard (GRS), which certifies textiles containing at least 20% recycled material. This certification ensures traceability and accountability throughout the production process, from the recycling stage to the final business-to-business transaction.

Alternative Fibres and Sustainability Innovations
Liberty Fabrics actively seeks innovative, sustainable fibres that minimize environmental impact. Some of the alternative fibres used in its collections include:
- LENZING™ Lyocell and Modal: Certified as compostable and biodegradable in industrial, home, soil, and marine conditions.
- BEMBERG™ Branded Cupro: A regenerated fibre made from cotton linter, a raw material classified as pre-consumer waste.
- ECONYL® Regenerated Nylon: A high-quality nylon yarn made from recycled materials such as fishing nets and fabric scraps.
- Recycled Polyester: Created by melting and re-spinning existing plastic into new polyester fibres.
